Participation in the CENTRAL Workshop, Berlin

Márton Berki and Gábor Tolnai participated in a scientific workshop in Berlin in 2–4 December 2021, organised by GSZ (Georg-Simmel-Zentrum für Metropolenforschung). Realised within the confines of the CENTRAL network (Central European Network for Teaching and Research in Academic Liaison), the three-days event was aimed at laying down the foundations of a future research project. In the main panel discussion, Eötvös Loránd University was represented by Márton Berki, along with Talja Blokland (Humboldt University Berlin), Anna M. Ostrowska (Warsaw University), Luděk Sýkora (Charles University Prague) and Henrik Schultze (Humboldt University Berlin). After the presentations and the closing panel discussion, workshop participants had an opportunity to gain on-site impressions in the form of thematic field trips focusing on the German capital's deindustrialisation processes and the social conflicts of its transforming former industrial neighbourhoods.
