Márton Berki’s presentation at the annual conference of the AAG
The annual conferences of the American Association of Geographers (AAG) are the largest and most prestigious gatherings of geographers worldwide, held each year in a different major U.S. city. This year’s event took place in Detroit between 24–28 March 2025, hosting professional discussions in nearly 1.400 thematic sessions over five days, accompanied by approximately 40 plenary lectures. On behalf of our department, Márton Berki participated in the conference with a presentation submitted to the session titled “(De)Industrialization Research”. His talk, entitled “De/Industrialization, Uneven Development, and Everyday Life – A Comparative Study of the Chinese Communities of Budapest's District VIII & Kazincbarcika, Northern Hungary”, was co-authored by Mirjam Sági, researcher at the CEU Democracy Institute. The presentation showcased the findings of the OTKA research project titled “Marginalised Space Experience in the Context of Uneven Geographical Development”.
