Ferenc Gyuris's conference talk in Oslo

Ferenc Gyuris gave a talk on the perceptions of Africa and the Arctic in late-19th-century Hungarian geography at the “Epistemic Frontiers”: Geoscientific Knowledge, Authority, and Politics of Participation in Arctic and African Exploration conference in Oslo, Norway. The event, which was organized by the University of Oslo, took place from April 22 to 24, 2025. After the presentations, the participants visited the Fridtjof Nansen Institute at Polhøgda (once the home of the Norwegian polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen [1861–1930]) and the house of Roald Amundsen (1872–1928), the first to reach the South Pole, in Uranienborg.
